The length of a rectangle is 4 cm greater than its width. The perimeter is 32 cm. Find the length of the rectangle.

Let the width is 'x' cm.

Then length = x+4 cm.

Now perimeter = x+(x+4) cm.

So x+(x+4)=32

or 2x+4=32

or 2x=28

or x=14 cm.

Therefore the length of the rectangle is 14+4=18 cm.
