the length of a rectangle is 4 cm more than its breadth if the length is increased by 4 cm and breadth is decreased by 2 cm the area remains the same as that of the original rectangle and the length and breadth of the rectangle​

the breadth is x

then the length is = 4 + x

now by the condition

then the breadth become = x -2

then the length become =  x + 8

now the area of two rectangles are same

(x) x ( x + 4) = (x +8 ) x (x -2)

x² + 4x = x² + 8x - 2x -16

4x = 6x - 16

2x = 16

x =8

so the length is = x + 4

                        = 8+4

                         = 12

the breadth is 8 cm
