Answer:-

  • Length is 12cm
  • Breadth is 8 cm

Explanation :-

According to the Question

Let the breadth be x cm

Then, the length be (x+4) cm

And it is given that the perimeter of the rectangle is 40cm.

As we know that

  • Perimeter of Rectangle = 2(L+B)

Where,

  • L denote Length
  • B denote Breadth

Substitute the value we get

→ 40 = 2(x + x +4)

→ 40 = 2(2x +4)

→ 40/2 = 2x + 4

→ 20 = 2x + 4

→ 20-4 = 2x

→ 16 = 2x

→ x = 16/2

→ x = 8

Now, Length = 4+8 = 12cm

  • Hence, the Length be 12cm & the breadth be 8 cm.

Question-

The length of a rectangle is 4 cm more than its breadth. The perimeter of the rectangle is 40cm. Find the length and breadth of the rectangle.

Answer-

Length- 12 cm

Breadth- 8 cm

Explanation-

Let the breath be y cm

Then leangth will be (4+y) cm

Perimeter of the rectangle- 40cm

Formula for calculating perimeter of a rectangle is 2×(leangth+breath)

∴ By substituting the value we get

=>2×(leangth+breath)=Perimeter

=>2×(y+y+4)=40

=>2y+4=40/2

=>2y=20-4

=>y=16/2

=>y=8

Therefore breath= 8cm

And leanth= 8+4= 12cm
