Let the width of the rectangle be x units.

A.T.Q.

Length of rectangle = (x + 4) units

Perimeter of rectangle = 34 + Length

                                     = 34 + x + 4

                                     = (x + 38) units

  • PERIMETER OF RECTANGLE = 2(LENGTH + BREADTH)

⇒ x + 38 = 2(x + 4 + x)

⇒ x + 38 = 2(2x + 4)

⇒ x + 38 = 4x + 8

⇒ 4x - x = 38 - 8

⇒ 3x = 30

⇒ x = 30/3

⇒ x = 10

Length of rectangle = x + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14 units

Breadth of rectangle = x = 10 units

  • AREA OF RECTANGLE = LENGTH × BREADTH

⇒ Area = 14 × 10

⇒ Area = 140 unit²
