Solution

Given:-

  • the length of a rectangle is 4cm more than its breadth.
  • perimeter of the rectangle is 40cm.

Find :-

  • Length & Breadth of rectangle

Explanation

Let,

  • Length be = x cm
  • Breadth be = y cm

Case 1.

==> x = y + 4

==> x - y = 4______________(1)

Case 2.

==> Perimeter of rectangle = 40

==> 2 × ( x + y) = 40

==> x + y = 40/2

==> x + y = 20________________(2)

Add equ(1) & equ(2)

==> 2x = 24

==> x = 24/2

==> x = 12 cm

Keep in equ (1)

==> 12 - y = 4

==> y = 12 - 4

==> y = 8 cm

Hence

  • Length be (x) = 12 cm
  • Breadth be (y) = 8 cm
