The length of a rectangle is 5 centimetre less than the twice its breadth is the length is decreased by 3 centimetre and the breadth is increased by 2 cm the perimeter of the resulting rectangle is 72 cm find the area of the original rectangle

let the length be 2x-5 and breadth be 2x. it is given 2x-5-3+2x+2=72. x=19.5. length =2*19.5-5=34cm and breadth=19.5cm. area of rectangle=l*b=34*19.5=663cm2
