Answer:

322 sq cm

Step-by-step explanation:

original rectangle

B= k

L= 5 cm less than twice its breadth.= 2k-5

new rectangle

l= the length is decreased by 3 cm= L-3

= 2k-5-3=2k-8

b=breadth increased by 2 cm= k+2

the perimeter of the resulting rectangle = 72 cm

= 2(l+b)= 2((2k-8)+(k+2))= 2(3k-6)= 6k-12=72

6k= 72+12=84

k= 84/6

k= 14

B= k= 14 cm

L = 2k-5

= 2(14)-5

= 28-5

= 23 cm

area of original rectangle= L×B

= 14×23

= 322sq cm

so, area of the original rectangle.= 322sq cm
