Explanation:

let l and b = x

2(l+b) = perimeter

2(x+5+x) = 40cm

2(2x+5) = 40 cm

4x+10 = 40 cm

4x = 40 cm - 10

4x = 30 cm

x = 30 /4

x = 7.5 cm

length = 7.5+5 cm

= 12.5 cm

breadth = 7.5 cm

Hope it helps you.

Explanation:

Let, the length of rec = x + 5

breadth of rec = x

given , perimeter of rec = 40 cm

Then,

According to formula,

perimeter of rec = 2 ( l + b)

40 cm = 2 ( x + 5 + x)

40 cm = 2 ( 2x + 5)

40 cm = 4x + 10cm

40 cm - 10 cm = 4x

30cm = 4x

x= 30cm/4

x= 7.5 cm

Hence,

length = 7.5 cm + 5cm

= 12.5 cm

breadth = 7.5 cm
