Answer :

  • Length of rectangle is 10m
  • Breadth of rectangle is 15m

Given :

  • The length of a rectangle is 5 metres less than twice the breadth
  • Perimeter is 50m

To find :

  • Length and breadth of the rectangle

Solution :

  • Let the length be l
  • Let the breadth be b

Given,

The length of a rectangle is 5m less than twice the breadth so,

  • 2b - 5

And also Given perimeter is 50m

As we know that,

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

Where,

  • l is length (2b - 5)
  • b is breadth (b)
  • Perimeter = 50m

》Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

》50 = 2(2b - 5 + b)

》50 = 2(3b - 5)

》50 = 6b - 10

》6b = 50 + 10

》6b = 60

》b = 60/6

》b = 10m

Breadth of rectangle is 10m

Now, We have to find the length

》2b - 5

》2(10) - 5

》20 - 5

》15m

Length of rectangle is 15m

Hence,

  • Length of rectangle is 10m
  • Breadth of rectangle is 15m

Verification :

Given,

  • Length of rectangle is 10m
  • Breadth of rectangle is 15m

As we know that,

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

》2(10 + 15)

》2(25)

》50m

Answer:

hope it helps

Step-by-step explanation:

⋆Perimeter of rectangle=2(l+b)

Case 1

⇒ Length = (2b - 5) metres

⇒ Breadth = ?

⇒ Perimeter = 50 metres

⇒ Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l+b)

⇒ 50 = 2(2b-5+b)

⇒ 50 = 2(3b-5)

⇒ 50 = 6b - 10

⇒ 50 + 10 = 6b

⇒ 60 = 6b

⇒ 60/6 = b

⇒ 10 = b

⇒ b = 10 metres

⇒ Breadth = 10 metres

Case2

⇒ Length = (2b - 5) metres

⇒ Length = 2(10) - 5

⇒ Length = 20 - 5

⇒ Length = 15 metres

Length = 15 metres

Breadth = 10 metres
