The ratio is 3 : 2

GIVEN

The length of a rectangle is 6cm and breadth is 4cm.

Perimeter = 26 cm

Ratio of sides = 3:2

TO FIND

Ratio of the length and breath.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

Length of the reactangle = 6 cm

Breath of the rectangle = 4 cm

Ratio = 6:4

Simplifying the ratio = 3:2

(II) draw the rectangle with perimeter 26 cm and sides in ratio 3:2

Let the length of the rectangle = 3x

Breath of the rectangle = 2x

Perimeter = 26cm

Perimeter = 2(L + B)

= 2 (3x + 2x)

= 2 × 5x

= 10x

10x = 26 cm

x = 26/10 = 2.6

Length of the rectangle = 3x = 3 × 2.6 = 7.8 cm

Breath of the rectangle = 2 × 2.6 = 5.2 cm

Construction of rectangle with Length 7.8 cm and breath 5.2 cm.
