let the breadth of rectangle is x

perimeter of rectangle = 2(l+b)

48 inches = 2(9+x)

48/2. = 9+x inches

24 = 9+x

24-9 = x

x = 15 inches

A.

Let the width of the rectangle be x.

Perimeter of rectangle= 2 ( length + width)

The perimeter is given, i.e., 48 inches

Length of the rectangle is 9 inches

So, the equation is

2 ( 9+x ) = 48

B.

2 ( 9+x ) = 48

=>18 + 2x = 48

=> 2x = 48 - 18

=> 2x = 30

=> x = (30/2) inches

=> x = 15 inches

So, the width of the rectangle is 15 inches.
