So,

(Y+5)*Y=300

Y^2+5*Y-300=0

By middle term factorisation,

Y^2-15*Y+20*Y-300=0

Y(Y-15)+20(Y-15)=0

(Y-15)(Y+20)=0

That means either Y-15 or Y+20 has to be zero

But Y cannot be negative so,

Y-15=0

Y=15

Therefore, Length=15+5=20 cm
