The length of a rectangle is greater than its breadth by 2 cm. If the length is
increased by 4 cm and the breadth decreased by 3 cm, the area remains the same.

Answer:

let breadth be x

length = x + 2

area = x/2 × x = x²/2

x + 2 + 4 = length

x + 6 = new length

x - 3 = new breadth

area remains the same = x²/2

x + 6 * x - 3 = x²/2

x² - 18 = x²/2

x²/1 - x²/2 = 18

2x²/2 - x²/2 = 18

x²/2 = 18

x² = 36

x × x = 6 × 6

breadth = 6 cm

again, length = x + 2

= 6 + 2 = 8 cm

breadth = 6cm; length = 8 cm
