the length of a rectangle is greater than the breadth by 3 CM if the length is increased by 9 centimetre and the breadth is reduced by 5 centimetre the area remains the same find the dimensions of the rectangle​

Answer:

let the breadth of rectangle is x cm

then length=x+3 cm

now, length = x+3+9

breadth=x-5

area of rectangle 1=area of rectangle 2

l*b=l*b

(x+3)x=(x+12)x-5

x²+3x = x²-5x+12x-60

x²+3x=x²+7x-60

7x-3x = 60. (x²=x² ,will cancel out

4x=60

x= 15

so the breadth = 15cm

then length= x+3

=15+3

=18cm
