Answer:

Given:-

  • Case 1: Length of rectangles is greater than breadth by 3 cm.
  • Case 2 : Length is increased by 9cm and breadth reduce by 5 cm.

find the dimensions of rectangle.

Solution

let the breadth be x and Length be x+3

Now , breadth is x+9 and

length =x+3- 5=x-2

Area in both cases are same.

so,

x (x+3)=(x+9)(x-2)

x^2+3x=x^2-2x+9x-18

x^2+3x-x^2+2x-9x=-18

-4x=-18

x=18/4

x=4.5

Then , the dimensions are

breadth = 4.5 cm and

length = (4.5+3) cm

=7.5 cm
