So perimeter of rectangle =2(length+width)=2(x+1+x)=2(2x+1)

But perimeter = 14 cm (Given)

∴2(2x+1)=14⇒2x+1=7⇒2x=7−1⇒x=3

Then wigth =3 cm and length=3+1=4 cm

∴areaofrectangle=length×wigth=4×3=12cm
