Step-by-step explanation:

  • Let, Breadth = x
  • So, length = 3x
  • And, Perimeter of rectangle => 2(l+b) => 60 = 2(x+3x) => 60 = 2*4x => 60 = 8x => x =60/8 => x= 7.5 cm
  • Therefore, Breadth = 7.5 cm & Length = 3x = 3*7.5 = 22.5 cm

Answer :

  • Breadth = 7.5cm
  • Length = 22.5 cm

Given :

  • The length of a rectangle is thrice its breadth
  • Perimeter is 60cm

To find :

  • The length and the breadth of the rectangle

Solution :

  • Let the breadth be x
  • Let the length be 3x

As we know that,

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

》60 = 2(3x + x)

》3x + x = 60/2

》3x + x = 30

》4x = 30

》x = 30/4

》x = 7.5cm

Hence,

  • Breadth = x = 7.5cm
  • Length = 3x = 3(7.5) = 22.5cm

Verification :

As we know that,

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

》Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

》2(7.5 + 22.5)

》2(30)

》60cm
