Length = 24 metres

Breadth = 12 metres

Let us assume the breadth of the rectangle to be 'a'.

If our first assumption is true then the length of the rectangle according to the question would be '2a'.

Perimeter of the rectangle that is given to us in the question

= 72 metres

Framing A Linear Equation According To The Question:

=> 2(a + 2a) = 72

Solving This Linear Equation:

=> 2a + 4a = 72

=> 6a = 72

Taking 6 to the other side of the equation we get:

=> a = 72/6

=> a = 12

Therefore, after solving we obtain the value of a as 12.

As we have assumed the breadth of the rectangle as 'a'. The breadth of the rectangle is 12 metres.

Calculating the Length of the Rectangle. Which we have assumed as '2a':

= 2a

Putting the value of 'a' we get:

= 2 x 12

= 24 metres

Therefore, the length of the rectangle is 24 metres.

Answer:

24

Step-by-step explanation:

Length = 24 metres

Breadth = 12 metres

Let us assume the breadth of the rectangle to be 'a'.

If our first assumption is true then the length of the rectangle according to the question would be '2a'.

Perimeter of the rectangle that is given to us in the question

= 72 metres

Framing A Linear Equation According To The Question:

=> 2(a + 2a) = 72

Solving This Linear Equation:

=> 2a + 4a = 72

=> 6a = 72

Taking 6 to the other side of the equation we get:

=> a = 72/6

=> a = 12
