The length of a rectangle is twice its width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is less than 120 cm, find it's maximum width.

Answer:

let x be the length of the rectangle,

    y be the width of the rectangle,

given;

x = 2y

perimeter of the rectangle (P) = 2(x+y)

                                            = 2(3y)

                                            = 6y

6y = 120

y = 20
