let width be x
length be 2x

perimeter = 2(l+b)
42 =2(x+2x)
42 =2*3x
42 =6x
42/6 =x
x =7

width =7
height =2x =2*7=14

Area of rectangle = l x b
= 7 x 14
= 98cm

The Area of rectangle is "98 cm²".

Step-by-step explanation:

Let \ the \ breadth \ of \ a \ rectangle \ be \ "x".\\Let \ the \ length \ be \ "2x".\\Given, perimeter,P=42 \ m\\As \ we \ know,\\The \ perimeter \ of \ a \ rectangle,P=2(L+B)\\On \ putting \ the \ values \ in \ the \ above \ formula,we \ get\\42=2(x+2x)\\\frac{42}{2}=3x \\21=3x\\\frac{21}{3}=x\\x=7 \ m\\ So, \\Breadth,B=7 \ m\\Length,L=2\times 7=14 \ m\\Now,\\The \ Area \ of \ rectangle,A=L\times B\\On \ putting \ the \ values,we \ get\\A=14\times 7\\A= 98 \ cm^2
