Answer:

perimeter=36cm

l=X+5

b=X+1

perimeter=2(l+b)

36=2(X+5+X+1)

36=2(2x+6)

18=2x+6

18-6=2x

X=12/2

x=6

L=6+5=11cm

b=6+1=7

area =l*b

=11*7

=77cm²

Given : The length of a rectangle is (x+5)cm and the breadth is (x+1)cm respectively. perimeter is 36cm

To find : (i) The value of x (ii) The area,

Solution:

Length of Rectangle  = x  + 5  cm

Breadth of rectangle  = x + 1  cm

Perimeter of Rectangle = 2 (length + Breadth)

= 2(x + 5 + x + 1)

= 2(2x + 6)

Perimeter = 36 cm

=> 2(2x + 6) = 36

=> 2x + 6 = 18

=> 2x = 12

=> x = 6

Length = x + 5 = 6 + 5 = 11 cm

Breadth = x + 1  = 6 + 1 = 7 cm

Area  = Length * Breadth

= 11 * 7

= 77 cm²

x = 6

Area = 77 cm²
