let the breadth be x cm

length = (x + 5) cm

 =  > perimeter = 46 \\  \\  =  > 2(x + 5 + x) = 46 \\  \\  =  > 2x + 5 = 23 \\  \\  =  > 2x = 18 \\  \\   =  > x = 9 \: cm

therefore length = 9+5 = 14 cm

and breadth = 9 cm

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Assuming the breadth to be x

With respect to the given question,

Length = 5 + x

Perimeter = 46 cm

Formula for perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

46 = 2(5 + x + x)

    = 2(5 + 2x)

    = 10 + 4x

46 - 10 = 4x

36 = 4x

x = 36/4 = 9cm

The dimensions of the rectangle,

Breadth = 9cm

Length = 5 + 9 = 14cm
