The length of a rectangular chicken pen is 4 m longer than its width. If it takes 60 m of fencing to enclose the pen, how long are the length and width?

let the length be 4x

let the breadth be x

perimeter of pen = 2(l+b)

60 =2× 4x+1x

60 = 2×5x

60 =10x

60/10 =x

6 =x

the length =4x

=4× 6

=24 m

width = x =6m
