Given: Length of the deck, L = 4 × Breadth of the deck, B

=> L = 4B

Perimeter of the rectangular deck = 2(L + B)

=> 30 = 2(4B + B)

=> 30 = 8B + 2B

=> 30 = 10B

=> B = \frac{30}{10} = 3 ft.

So, L = 4B => 4 × 3 = 12 ft.

Area = L × B

=> 12 ft. × 3 ft.

=>  36 ft.^{2}

SOLUTION:-

Given:

•The length of a rectangular deck is 4 times its width.

•The deck perimeter is 30 feet.

To find:

The area of the deck.

Explanation:

We know that, perimeter of rectangle;

=) 2(l+b).

Therefore,

Let the breadth of the rectangular deck be R.

&

The Length of the rectangular deck is 4R.

According to the question:

=) 2(4R+R) =30

=) 2(5R)=30

=) 10R =30

=) R= 30/10

=) R= 3 feet.

Now,

Length = 4R= 4×3 = 12 feet.

Breadth= R = 3 feet.

Area of the rectangular deck;

=) Length × Breadth

=) 12feet × 3feet

=) 36feet²
