Given:

The length of a rectangular field exceeds it's breadth by 8 metres.

The perimeter of the field is 80 metres.

To find:

The length of the field.

Solution:

Let, the breadth of the rectangle be, 'b'.

∴ Length = (b+8)

 Perimeter = 80 metres.

From the formula we get that,

Perimeter = 2(Length + Breadth)

∴ According to the problem:

80 = 2{b+(b+8)}

⇒ (80÷2) = 2b+8

⇒ 40 = 2b+8

⇒ 2b+8 = 40

⇒ 2b = (40-8)

⇒ 2b = 32

⇒ b = (32÷2)

⇒ b = 16 metres.

Hence, the breadth of the rectangle is 16 metres.

∴ The length of the rectangle is (16+8) metres

                                                   = 24 metres.

∴  The length of the rectangle is 24 metres.

Answer:

        The length of the rectangle is 24 metres.

Answer:

Let the breadth of the rectangle be x units

the length of the rectangle  ( x+8) units

perimeter of the field  = 80

2 (Length+Breadth) = 80

L + B = 80/2

x +(x+8) = 40

x+x+8=40

2x = 40 - 8

2x = 32

x = 32/2

x = 16 units

Breadth = 16 units

Length = x+8 unit

Length =16+8

Length = 24 units
