To Find:-

  • Find the length of rectangle.

Given:-

  • The length is 8m less than twice it's breadth.
  • The perimeter of rectangle is 158m.

Solution:-

Let the breadth be " b "

So,

l = 2b - 8

Perimeter of rectangle = 2( l + b )

\tt \implies { \: 158 \: =  \: 2 \: ( \: 2b \: - \: 8 \: + \: b\: )  \:  }

\tt \implies { \: 158 \: =  \: 2 \: ( \: 3b \: - \: 8 \: )  \:  }

\tt \implies { \: 158 \:\: =  \: 6b \: - \: 16  \:  }

\tt \implies { \: 158 \:   \: + \: 16 \: =  \: 6b  \:  }

\tt \implies { \: 174 \:  =  \: 6b  \:  }

\tt \implies { \: b \:  =  \: \cancel \frac{174}{6}   \:  }

\tt \implies\boxed { \: b \:  =  \: 29  \:  }

So,

\tt \implies { \: length \: = \: 2b \: - \: 8 \:  }

\tt \implies { \: l \: = \: 2 ( \: 29 \: ) \: - \: 8 \:  }

\tt \implies { \: l \: = \: 58 \: - \: 8 \:  }

\tt \implies\boxed { \: l \:  =  \: 50  \:  }

Answer:

To Find:-

Find the length of rectangle.

Given:-

The length is 8m less than twice it's breadth.

The perimeter of rectangle is 158m.

Solution:-

Let the breadth be " b "

So,

l = 2b - 8

Perimeter of rectangle = 2( l + b )

158=2(2b−8+b)

158 = 4b - 16 + 2b

158 = 6b - 16

158+16 = 6b

6b = 174

b = 174/6

b = 29

length = 2b-8

= 2×29-8

= 58-8

= 50
