The length of a rectangular field is 8 meters less than twice its breadth. If the perimeter
the rectangular field is 56 meters, find its length and breadth?

so, length = x-8

perimeter of rectangle = 2[l+b]

                      56 m       = 2 [ x  +(x - 8) ]

                       56 m      = 2[2x-8]

                       56/2      = 2x - 8

                       28 + 8  = 2x

                       36/2 =   x

                      18    = x

 so breadth = 18m

length = 18-8 = 10m
