Let the width of field be a m

Length = (2a - 8) m

Perimeter = 2 (Length + Width)

=> 2 [ 2a - 8 +a] = 56

=> 2 (3a - 8) = 56

=> 3a - 8 = 28

=> 3a = 36

=> a = 12

Width of field = 12 m

Length of field = 2 (12)- 8 = 24 - 8 = 16 m

L+8=2B
2L+2B=56
2L+(L+8)=56
3L=48
L=16
16+8=2B
B=12
