breadth=x

the length of a rectangle=2x-8

the perimeter of the rectangle=34

the perimeter of the rectangle=2(l+b)

34 =2(l+b)

34/2=l+b

17=x+2x-8

17+8=3x=x=25/3

l=25/3

b=2×25/3-8

= 50/3-8

=(50-24)/3=26/3

Let the breadth = x

Length = 2x-8

Perimeter = 2×(l+b)

= 2×(x+2x-8)

= 2×(3x-8)

According to problem

2×(3x-8)=56

3x-8= \cancel\dfrac{56}{2}

3x-8=28

3x=28+8

3x=36

x=\cancel\dfrac{36}{3}

\thereforeBreadth= x=12m

\thereforeLength= 2x-8=2×12-8=24-8=16m
