Given :-

The length of a rectangular field is three times its breadth.

The perimeter of the field = 70 m

To Find :-

The length of the rectangle.

The breadth of the rectangle.

Analysis :-

Consider the breadth as a variable. Then multiply it thrice to get the length.

Make an equation accordingly.

Get the value of the variable and substitute the value in the length as well.

Solution :-

We know that,

  • l = Length
  • b = Breadth
  • p = Perimeter

Let the breadth be 'x'. Then the length would be '3x'.

By the formula,

\underline{\boxed{\sf Perimeter \ of \ rectangle=2(Length+Breadth)}}

Substituting their values,

\sf 70=2(3x+x)

\sf 70=2(4x)

\sf 70=8x

Finding the value of x,

\sf x=\dfrac{70}{8}

\sf x=8.75 \ m

Breadth = 8.75 m

Length = 3x

= 3 × 8.75 = 26.25 m

Therefore, the length and breadth are 26.25 m and 8.75 m respectively.
