let length be l

breadth be b

l=3b............ 1

l. b = 147............2

substitute equation 1 in equation 2

3b.b = 147

3b² = 147

b² = 147/3

b²=49

b=7

l=3b

l=3.7

l=21

Answer:

21 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the breadth be x

Since we are given that The length of a rectangular field is three times its breadth

So, length = 3x

Area of rectangle = Length \times Breadth

We are given that the area of the field be 147 sq meters

So,  147=3x \timesx

 147=3x^2

49=x^2

7=x

Thus the breadth is 7 m.

Length = 3x = 3*7 = 21 m.

Hence the length of the field is 21 m.
