The length of a rectangular field is thrice its breadth. If the perimeter of the field is 160m, find its length and breadth.

Here is your answer,

Let the length of the rectangle be l and breadth be b.

Given that,

The length is thrice the breadth.
l = 3b

Perimeter = 160
2(l+b) = 160
L+b = 160/2
L+b = 80

Substitute l=3b in the equation,

3b+b = 80
4b=80
b=80/4
b=20

L=3b
L=3 x 20
L = 60

Therefore the length is 60 m and breadth is 20m.
