Given : Length of rectangular hall is 3 metres more than double of its breadth. It's perimeter is 66 metres.

To find : Length of rectangular hall

Solution :

In order to solve this problem, you should have some basic knowledge of the concept of perimeter.

Perimeter is basically the measure of length of a boundary. In the case of rectangle, it has 2 lengths and 2 breadths. It's perimeter would be 2 ( L + B ), where L is the measure of Length and B be the breadth.

Now since length of rectangular hall is 3 metres more than double of it's breadth.

Let's assume that breadth of hall be x, then it's length would be defined as ( 2 x + 3 ) metres.

Now by applying formula of perimeter, we get :

=> 2 ( Length + Breadth ) = 66 metres

=> 2 [ ( 2x + 3 ) + ( x ) ] = 66 metres

=> 2 [ 2x + 3 + x ] = 66 metres

=> 2 [ 3x + 3 ] = 66 metres

=> [ 3x + 3 ] = 66 / 2 metres

=> 3x + 3 = 33 meters

=> 3x = 33 - 3 metres

=> 3x = 30 metres

=> x = 30 / 3 metres

=> x = 10 metres

But according to our assumption, length was (2 x + 3 ).

So length of rectangular hall = [ 2 (10) + 3 ] = [ 20 + 3 ] = 23 metres.

Length of rectangular hall = 23 metres.
