let the breadth of rectangular hall is =x
the length of rectangular hall is = 5+x
perimeter of rectangular hall is = 2(l+b)
perimeter of hall is = 74m
74= 2(5+x+x)
74= 2(2x+5)
74= 4x+10
74-10=4x
64 =4x
64/4= x
x=16 m
so the breadth of rectangular hall is =16 m
the length of rectangular hall is =5+16 =21m

Given :-

  • the length of a rectange is 5m more than it breadth
  • Perimeter of Rectangle = 74m

 \\

To Find :-

  • Length and Breadth of Rectangle

 \\

Solution :-

⟾ Let the Breadth of Rectangle be x

⟾ Then Length of Rectangle will be x + 5

According to the Question :

➞ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2 ( L + B )

➞ 74 = 2 ( x + 5 + x )

➞ 74 / 2 = x + 5 + x

➞ 37 = 2x + 5

➞ 37 - 5 = 2x

➞ 32 = 2x

➞ 32 / 2 = x

➞ 16 = x

________________

Verification :

➞ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2 ( L + B )

➞ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2 (x + 5 + x)

➞ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2 (16 + 5 + 16)

➞ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2 (21 + 16)

➞ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2 × 37

➞ 74 = 74

Hence Verified

________________

Therefore :

  • Length = x + 5 = 16 + 5 = 21m
  • Breadth = x = 16m

Additional Info :

Formulas Related to Rectangle:

  • Perimeter of Rectangle = 2( l + b)
  • Area = Length × Breadth
  • Length = Area / Breadth
  • Breadth = Area / Length
  • Diagonal = √(l)² + (b)²
