The length of a rectangular lot is 4 m more than twice its width. The perimeter is 46 m. Find the width and length of the lot.

and length= 2x+4

perimeter of rectangle= 2(l+b)

46= 2{(2x+4)+x)}

46= 2(2x+4)+2x

46= 4x+8+2x

46-8= 6x

38= 6x

38/6=x

6.33= x

therefore

width = 6.33 m and

length= 2×6.33+4

=12.66+4

=16.66 m
