Given,

The length of a rectangular park is twice its breadth, and its perimeter measure 0.84 km.

To Find,

The area of the park in square meters.

Solution,

Let the breadth of the park = x

Therefore, the length of the park = 2x

Perimeter of the park = 0.84 km = 840 m

We know that the formula of perimeter of a rectangle = 2(l + b)

Substituting the values:

2(2x + x) = 840 m

[Opening the brackets]

4x + 2x = 840m

6x = 840 m

Therefore x = 840/6 = 140.

So, the breadth of the park = x = 140 m

The length of the park = 2x = 140 x 2 = 280 m

Area of the rectangle = length x breadth

= 140 x 280 = 39200^2meters.

Formulas used:

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

Area of rectangle = l x b
