Given :-

  • Length of rectangular ground = 2 cm more ghan its breadth.
  • Area of ground = 195 cm²

To find :-

  • Length & breadth of ground.

Solution :-

Let the breadth of ground be n cm & length of ground be (n + 2) cm

As we know,

Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

Putting all values :

⇒ (n + 2) × n = 195

⇒ n² + 2n = 195

⇒ n² + 2n - 195 = 0

⇒ n² + 15n - 13n - 195 = 0

⇒ n(n + 15) - 13(n + 15) = 0

⇒ (n - 13)(n + 15) = 0

n = 13 or, n = -15

∵ Breadth of rectangle can't be negative

Breadth = n = 13 cm

Now finding length of rectangular ground

⇒ Length = n + 2

⇒ Length = 13 + 2

Length = 15 cm

Therefore,

Hence, length & breadth of ground are 15 cm & 13 cm respectively.

QUESTION :

The length of a rectangular playground is 2cm length that its breath.

If the area of the 195sq. M, find the length and breath of the field.

SOLUTION :

Suppose that in the above question, the length of the rectangle is X cm .

The length is 2 cm more than the breadth.

So, Breadth = X - 2 cm.

The area is 195 m ^2

=> X ^2 - 2 X - 195 = 0

=> X^2 - 15 X + 13 X - 195 = 0

=> X ( X - 15 ) + 13 ( X - 15 ) = 0

=> ( X + 13 ) ( X - 15 ) = 0

=> X = 15

=> X - 2 = 13.

So the final answer becomes :

Length of the field = 15 m.

Breadth of the field is 13 m
