Given :-

  • The length of a rectangular plot exceeds it's breadth by 10m the perimeter of such a plot is 140m form the linear equation in one variable

To find :-

  • Dimension of the plot

Solution :-

Let the breadth be x then length be (x + 10)

  • Perimeter of rectangular plot = 140m

As we know that

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

Where " l " is length and " b " is breadth of a rectangle.

According to question

→ Perimeter of rectangle = 140

→ 2(l + b) = 140

Put the value of length and breadth

→ 2(x + 10 + x) = 140

→ 2x + 10 = 140/2

→ 2x + 10 = 70

→ 2x = 70 - 10

→ 2x = 60

→ x = 60/2

→ x = 30

Hence,

  • Length of rectangular plot = x + 10 = 40m

  • Breadth of rectangular plot = x = 30m

Verification :-

  • Perimeter of rectangular plot = 140m

LHS = Perimeter of rectangle

→ 2(l + b)

→ 2(40 + 30)

→ 2 × 70

→ 140 = RHS verified
