✪ Question ✪

The length of a rectangular plot is twice its breadth. If the perimeter of the plot is 522 metre, find the area of the plot

✪ Given ✪

  • The length of the rectangular plot is twice its breadth.
  • The perimeter of the plot is 522 m.

✪ To find ✪

The area of the plot.

✪ Solution ✪

Let the breadth be x m.

So, length = 2x m.

According to condition,

2(length + breadth) = 522

⇒2(2x + x) = 522

⇒2 × 3x = 522

⇒3x = 522/2

⇒3x = 261

⇒x = 261/3

⇒x = 87

✪ Hence ✪

x = 87

  • Breadth = x m = 87 m.
  • Length = 2x m = (2 × 87) m = 174 m

Area = (length × breadth) unit²

= (174 × 87) m²

= 15138 m²

✪ Therefore ✪

The area of the plot is 15,138 m².
