Step-by-step explanation:

let the length of the room is x

breadth =x-5

area= (x)(x-5)

case 2

length =x-3

breadth =x-5+2 =x-3

area = (x-3)(x-3)

in both cases area are equal

(x)(x - 5) = (x - 3)(x - 3)

 {x}^{2}  - 5x =  {x}^{2}  - 6x + 9

 {x}^{2}  -  {x}^{2}  + 6x - 5x = 9

0 {x}^{2}  + 1x = 9

x = 9

length = 9m

breadth = 9-5 =4m
