Answer :

  • Area = 77 m²
  • Length is 3cm less than twice of breadth

Let, length be x and breadth be y

⇒Length = x = 2y - 3

____________________

⇒Area = length*Breadth

⇒Area = x * y

⇒77 = (2y - 3)(y)

⇒77 = 2y² - 3y

⇒2y² - 3y - 77 = 0

⇒2y² - 14y + 11y - 77 = 0

⇒2y(y - 7) + 11(y - 7) = 0

⇒(2y + 11) (y - 7) = 0

So, Zeros are :

  • y = -11/2
  • y = 7

As breadth can't be negative. So, breadth is 7 m

\rule{150}{0.5}

Length = 2y - 3

⇒x = 2(7) - 3

⇒x = 14 - 3

⇒ x = 11

  • Length is 11 m
  • Breadth is 7 m
