Step-by-step explanation:

Given that :-

  • The length of the rectangular sheet is \sf{3 \dfrac{1}{2}} cm.

  • The area of the rectangle is \sf{5 \dfrac{2}{7}}

We need to find it's other length (In short, the breadth)

Because you won't like to re-find the information already given, so a small correction.

Now, what we're going to do is apply the formula of course!

And the formula designated to this question is:-

\sf{Area = Length \times Breadth}

Well, we're already given the values, we will just replace it off :-

\sf{ 5 \dfrac{2}{7} = 3 \dfrac{1}{2} \times Breadth}

Convert it into improper fractions:-

\sf{ \dfrac{37}{7} =  \dfrac{7}{2} \times Breadth}

\sf{ \dfrac{37 \times 2}{7 \times 7} = Breadth}

\sf{ \dfrac{74}{49} = Breadth}

\sf{ 1 \dfrac{25}{49} = Breadth} is the required answer.

Correct question:-

The length of a rectangular sheet paper is 3 1/2cm and its area is 5 2/7cm. Find its breadth.

Given:-

  • length of the rectangular sheet = 3½ = 7/2
  • Area of the sheet = 5 \frac{2}{7} = 37/7

To find:-

  • Breadth of the rectangular sheet

Solution:-

Area of the sheet = 37/7

l × b = 37/7

b =  \frac{37}{ 7 \frac{7}{2} }

b = \frac{37 \times 2}{7×7}

b =  \frac{74}{49}

b = 1 \frac{25}{49}

  • Thus, the breadth of the rectangular sheet is 1 \frac{25}{49}
