\sf\large\underline\blue{Let:}

\sf{\implies The\:breadth\:_{(rectangle)}=x}

\sf{\implies The\: length\:_{(rectangle)}=x+10}

\sf\large\underline\blue{To\: Find:}

\sf{\implies The\: Dimensions\:_{(rectangle)}=?}

\sf\large\underline\blue{Solution:}

  • To calculate the dimensions of rectangle at first we have to assume that the breadth of rectangle be x and the length of rectangle be x+10 then applying the formula of perimeter to calculate the value of x then find out the dimensions of rectangle:]

\tt{\implies Perimeter\:_{(rectangle)}=2(length+breadth)}

\tt{\implies Given,\: perimeter=80m}

\tt{\implies 2(x+10+x)=80}

\tt{\implies 2(2x+10)=80}

\tt{\implies 2x+10=40}

\tt{\implies 2x=40-10}

\tt{\implies 2x=30\implies x=15}

\sf\large{Hence,}

\sf{\implies The\:breadth\:_{(rectangle)}=15m}

\sf{\implies The\: length\:_{(rectangle)}=25m}

Answer:

Question - The length of a rectangle is 10 m more than its breadth. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 80 m, find the dimensions of the rectangle.

Answer :

Given -

  • Perimeter = 80 m.

let the length of the rectangle be 10 + x (as the length is 10m more than its breadth).

And let the breadth of the rectangle be x.

→ 2(l + b) = 80

→ (10 + x + x) = 80/2

→ 2x + 10 = 40

→ 2x = 40 - 10

→ x = 30/2

x = 15 cm.

  • Breadth = 15 cm
  • Length = 10 + x = 10 + 15 = 25 cm

Therefore, the dimensions of the rectangle are 15cm and 25 cm.
