let the height of the room be ' x m '

according to question ,

length ( l ) = 3 × x = 3 x m

breadth( b ) = 1 whole 1 / 2 × x = 3 x/ 2 m

cost of white washing 1 m^2 area

= Rs 1.50

total cost of whitewashing the four walls of room = Rs 216

total white washed (painted) area
______________________________
= 216 / 1.50 = 144 m^2

thus ,
area of four wallls of room = 144 m^2
______________________________
since , we know that ,

lateral surface area of cuboid

= 2 bh +2 hl

2bh + 2hl = 144 m^2

2h ( b + l ) = 144

2 x ( 3 x / 2 + 3 x ) = 144

2 x × 9 x/ 2 = 144 => 9 x ^2 = 144

x ^2 = 16 => x = √16 => x = 4 m

therefore , dimensions of room are

height = x = 4 m

length = 3 x = 3 × 4 = 12 m

breadth = 3 x / 2 = 3 × 4 / 2 = 6 m

Your Answer : l= 12 m , b = 6 m h = 4 m
