The length of a room is 6 metre longer than its breadth if the area of the room is 72 metre square calculate breadth

Answer:

breadth of room=x

length of room=x+6

area of rectangular room= length × breadth

=72

(x+6)×(x)=72

x^2 + 6x = 72

x^ 2+ 6x -72 = 0

x^2+12x -6x-72=0

x (x+12) -6 (x+12)=0

(x+12) (x-6)=0

x= -12 or 6

but breadth can't be negative so,

breadth= 6m
