Answer:

A.T.Q

l=2(1/2)b this is given a mixed fraction

l=2.5b

given P=70

2(l+b)=70

2(2.5b+b)=70

3.5b=35

b=10 m

so l=2.5*10 =25 m

Answer:

Width of the room = 10 m

Length of the room = 25 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • Length of the room = 2 and half times it's width
  • Perimeter = 70 m

To Find:

  • Length and width of the room

Solution:

Here we have to find the length and width of the room.

By given we know that,

Length of the room = 2 + 1/2 times of the breadth

That is,

Length of the room = 5/2 times the breadth

l = 5/2 b------(1)

Now we know that perimeter of a rectangle is given by,

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 (l + b)

where l = length of the rectangle

          b = breadth of the rectangle

Substitute the data,

70 = 2 (l + b)

Substitute the value of l from equation 1

70 = 2 ( 5/2 b + b)

(7/2) × b × 2 = 70

7b = 70

 b = 70/7

b = 10 m

Hence the breadth/width of the room is 10 m.

Substitute the value of b in equation 1

l = 5/2 × 10

l = 5 × 5

l = 25 m

Hence length of the room is 25 m.

Verification:

Length of the room = 5/2 times the width

25 = 5/2 × 10

25 = 50/2

25 = 25

Perimeter of the room = 70

2 (l + b) = 70

2 (25 + 10) = 70

2 × 35 = 70

70 = 70

Hence verified.
