Step-by-step explanation:

Let the width of tripaulin be x ft.

Then, length = 3+3x ft.

AtoQ

Area of rectangular tripaulin = 126 ft. squared

L * B = 126

(3+3x) * x =126

3x+3x^2 =126

3x^2+3x-126 =0

3x^2-21x+18x-126=0

3x(x-7)+18(x-7) =0

(x-7)(3x+18)

X = 7

X =-6

Distance can not be negative so x=7 is correct

Then width of rectangle = 7ft.

Length = 3+3*7

= 24ft.
