percentage increase in its volume, if Poisson's
ratio of wire material is 0.5.

Answer:

0.6%.

Explanation:

From the question we get the increase in length which is 0.3% and the Poisson’s ratio is also given as σ = 0.5. The increase in volume which is to be found is given by the formulae.

ΔV/V = (1+2σ)ΔL/L.

So, now substituting the values we will get the increase in volume as.

ΔV/V=(1+2*0.5)0.3/100 which on solving will be equal to 2*0.003 which on calculating in percentage we will get 0.6%.
