answer

x² + x - 12 = 0

Step-by-step explanation:

Let, width = x

length = x + 1

Area = 12 feet

Area = Length x Width

Substitute the values above,

12 = (x + 1) x

Solve,

12 = x² + x

Rearrange,

x² + x - 12 = 0, this is its quadratic equation.

Let the width of the frame be X

So. it's length will be X+1

A.T.Q.

Area of frame = 12

X(X+1)=12

x²+X =12

x²+x-12=0

x²+4x-3x-12=0

X(X+4)-3(X+4)=0

(X+4)(x-3)

if X+4=0

then X= -4. it is not possible because width can't be negative

and if x-3 =0

then X =3

so width is 3 foot and length is 3+1=4 foot
