Answer:

Required cost of laying the carpet is Rs₹ 1008.

Step-by-step explanation:

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2( length + breadth )

Here,

Length of the hall is 8 m more than its breadth. Let the breadth be a m, then length should be a + 8 m.

According to the question perimeter of hall is 49 m.

= > 2( a + a + 8 ) m = 40 m

= > ( 2a + 8 ) m = 20 m

= > 2a m = 20 m - 8 m

= > a m = 6 m

Thus, breadth of the hall is 6 m and length is 8 m + 6 m Or 14 m.

= > Area of the hall = length x breadth

= > 14 m x 6 m

= > 84 m^2

Thus,

= > cost of laying the carpet = area to be covered x rate of laying

= > cost of laying the carpet = 84 m^2 x 12 / m^2 = 1008 m^2.

Hence the required cost of laying the carpet is Rs₹ 1008.

  \huge \pink{\mathfrak{solution}}

Given:

•Length of the hall is 8m more than its breadth .

•Perimeter of hall is 40m .

• Cost of carpet per sq.m is ₹12

To find :

•Total cost of the carpet

Let breadth be x m

and length be (8+x)m

As we know that ,

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 (length+breadth)

=> 40 = 2(8+x+x)

=> 40 = 2(8+2x)

=> 40 = 16+4x

=> 40-16=4x

=> 24= 4x

=> x = 24/4

=>x= 6

So ,

Breadth = 6m

Length = 8+x = 8+6=14m

•Area of the rectangle = l×b

=> 6×14 => 84 m^2

Now ,

Cost = Area of the carpet × cost of laying a carpet

=> 84× 12

=> 1008

Hence ,the cost is 1008
